Why is NYC believed as one of the most beautiful cities? The Upper East siders would be very proud of this question. The Upper East Side has the cleanest environment in NYC and it is directly connected to the heart of NYC, Jacqueline Onassis Reservoir in the Central Park. Choose any street among 86th to 95th Street and begin your little journey towards the park. To the New Yorker, it’s the only hint of nature in sight. You might have believed it was a lake, but in fact, it has existed there as the main water source of NYC for 130 years to 1993. Before that time, it wasn’t drinkable and more than 1,000 people died by the lack of clean water. Afterwards, the government worked to purify it and started to serve people with clean water for a long time. Now, it no longer distributes the water supply, but rests in peace and welcomes the visitors. It is no exaggeration to say that Jacqueline Onassis Reservoir has made this city modern. It would be very natural to wonder why it is there and what the purpose of it. Just as the heart of your body, the reservoir supplied water that NYC needed. It continues to exist as the heart of NYC, generating positive energy with its nature, jogging paths and refreshing environment.
